She is an architect, urban historian and a permanent research fellow at the Center for Social Studies (CES) of the University of Coimbra, Portugal, where she is co-coordinator of the research group CCARQ Cities, Cultures and Architecture. She holds a professional degree in architecture by the University of Coimbra, Portugal (2000) and a Diploma of Advanced Studies in History of Art and Architecture by the University Pablo de Olavide, Spain (2005), where she completed the Doctoral Programme in History of Art and Architecture in Ibero-america (2002-2004). She holds a PhD in Architecture by the University of Coimbra. Her thesis “Açores Cidade e Território. Quatro vilas estruturante” was approved in 2012 suma cum laude and published as a book in 2015. She is an associated researcher at the Center for Global History (CHAM) of the University NOVA of Lisbon and the University of the Azores, at the research group The Arts and the Portuguese Expansion. She is an Invited Professor at the Department of Architecture (Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Coimbra).
